Technology & Access Resources for Visitors and Guests
This guide explains how visitors, sponsored guests, Tri-Co community members, alumni, parents, and vendors can access Swarthmore College technology and services.
Visitors
- Wireless Access: All visitors can connect to campus Wi-Fi using the SwatGuest network.
- Visitors at 101 S. Chester will need an authorization code to join SwatGuest.
- Printing: SwatGuest users cannot print across campus.
- Visitors may print only at McCabe Library using public computers.
- Ask the Circulation Desk for assistance.
- Library Computers: McCabe Library offers a guest login for use on public computers.
Sponsored Guests
Short-term Guests
- Use SwatGuest for wireless access.
- To log in to a College computer, the sponsoring department or faculty member must sign in on the guest’s behalf.
- If a guest needs an adapter/dongle for a presentation, these can be requested through Classroom and Conferencing Technologies.
Printing
- Printing is not available through SwatGuest; sponsored guests should work with their sponsoring department for printing.
- Guests can print from the Libraries via the public computers.
Moodle Access (Guests Not Registered in a Course)
- Faculty may grant Moodle guest access: Logging into Moodle at Swarthmore
- Guests who want course credit must be officially registered through the Registrar.
Extended Guest Access
Faculty and staff may request longer-term accounts for guests who need more than basic SwatGuest access.
- Extending SwatGuest
- SwatGuest accounts expire after 4 days.
- Sponsors can request an extension before expiration by emailing the Help Desk: support@swarthmore.edu
- Temporary Accounts (for research or similar needs)
- Faculty or staff can request a temporary account for a sponsored guest through the Help Desk: support@swarthmore.edu
- Available options include:
- Wireless (internet only)
- Network account (login to eduroam and computers)
- Google account (email and Google apps)
Support for Presentations
Classroom and Conferencing Technologies provides AV support in classrooms. For available equipment, see HD classroom details.
Access Extensions for Graduating Seniors
- Accounts may be extended for research projects.
- The request must come from the sponsoring faculty member and include the project purpose and end date.
- Graduating seniors cannot continue as student workers. If they will be hired, the hiring must go through HR.
Tri-Co Guests
- Users from Haverford or Bryn Mawr should connect using eduroam, the College’s authenticated wireless network.
- Tri-Co students who are registered for a Swarthmore course can log into Moodle using their Swarthmore credentials.
- Students who are not registered but need course access may request Moodle guest access directly from the instructor.
Alumni
- Alumni accounts remain active for 30 days after graduation:
- Alumni services and support are provided through:
- Email forwarding/aliases are managed through the Swarthmore Alumni Portal.
- Academic records are available via the Registrar’s Office.

Parents
- Due to FERPA, ITS cannot provide parents access to their student’s accounts: https://www.swarthmore.edu/parents/student-records-and-parental-notification

Vendors
- Vendors may receive limited access depending on project requirements.
- The request must come from the Swarthmore department working with the vendor.
- Submit requests to the Help Desk and include the access type and purpose: support@swarthmore.edu
