Self-Service Guest Wireless

From Swarthmore Knowledge Base

All visitors to the Swarthmore College campus have access to the SwatGuest wireless network. Self-service registration is required and guest accounts are good for 4 days. For longer stays, new accounts can be created after the initial ones expire.

If you have an eduroam account with another institution you can connect with your home institution’s email address using the standard Wireless connection instructions.

Please note:

  • A single SwatGuest account can be used on all of your wireless devices.
  • Open access is provided to the Internet and to publicly accessible servers at Swarthmore. No access is permitted to SwatVPN, printers or internal Swarthmore servers including email servers.
  • As with most other public Wi-Fi services, SwatGuest is not an encrypted network. Use https or other secure applications if you need to send personal or confidential data.

SwatGuest registration has been verified to work with Firefox and Chrome. If you have a problem registering, please try a different browser, such as Microsoft Edge on Windows or Safari on a Mac.

On mobile devices, you may not have to use a browser to register or login. For example, on iPhones and iPads, simply selecting the SwatGuest network will cause the initial login screen to appear.
