Description

Ed Discussion is an online discussion site that is often used as a class question and answer forum.  Instructors can post class announcements and students can post questions for other members of the class to answer.

Ed Discussion posts support video, images, LaTeX, live runnable software code, and image annotations.

Setup and Use

Set Up Through Moodle

Ed Discussion can be added as a Moodle activity. To set up through Moodle, follow the steps below.

  1. Go to your Moodle course and turn editing on
  2. Click Add Activity or Resource in the Moodle section you'd like to add the activity to
  3. Select Ed Discussions from the list of activities

A new Ed Discussion course will be created.  Instructors can sync the Ed Discussion roster to the Moodle participants listing.

Set Up Through Ed Stem

To set up an Ed Discussion course separate from Moodle, log in to Ed Discussions at edstem.org.  Use your Swarthmore email to log in.  Create a new course.  Add users manually or copy and paste student information from a csv or spreadsheet file.

Help Documentation

See the Ed Help website for Instructor and student help (enter your Swarthmore email to authenticate).  Swarthmore licenses the "Ed Discussion" product.  There are other services that we do not license.
