By default, new courses are created with sections labeled "New Section.”  Moodle can also display each section as a week with the dates at the heading.

To modify the number of sections (or weeks) showing in the course:

  1. Go to your Moodle course and turn editing on.
  2. Go to the bottom of the page and click on Add Section or Add Week below the last section of the course.  If the link doesn't appear, expand the last section.
  3. Repeat as needed to add more sections

Reordering sections

To reorder sections, turn on edit mode and move the cursor to to the right of the section title.  The cursor will switch to a crosshair symbol.  Click and drag the section up or down.

The top section is a header section.  It cannot be moved.

It is also possible to reorder items or sections using the course index on the left hand side of the page.
