Wolfram Alpha  "is an engine for computing answers and providing knowledge. It works by using its vast store of expert-level knowledge and algorithms to automatically answer questions, do analysis, and generate reports."  Wolfram Alpha was developed by Wolfram Research, the makers of Mathematica.

Wolfram Alpha is free to use.  Swarthmore College users have free access to Wolfram Alpha Pro.

  • File uploads – can process your own data

  • Interactive output using Computable Document Format (CDF)

  • Ability to download output or save as a PDF

Accessing Wolfram Alpha Pro

  1. If you haven't already set up a Wolfram ID at the Wolfram User Portal, do that first.  Use your swarthmore.edu email address as the WolframID.  You will then receive an confirmation email from Wolfram.  Follow instructions in the email to verify your account.
    Visit this link to request your WolframAlpha Pro access: https://user.wolfram.com/portal/requestAK/438761e7f2e6c71b96b81dd0e2dea910b58a5f85
    You'll have to check email again for validation.
    Finally, go to http://www.wolframalpha.com and log-in using your WolframID in the upper right-hand corner.
