About LastPass

Below are some common questions about LastPass. What is LastPass?

LastPass is an online password management system that allows you to securely store all of your passwords. This allows you to have access to the passwords for all of the accounts you use, but not have to remember them all. It includes the use of a browser extension/plug-in to easily auto-fill your securely stored passwords whenever you need them. You can also use LastPass to generate new, strong passwords when it comes time to update them. You will save all of your passwords in your LastPass Vault, which you will secure with a strong Master Password - the only password you need to remember.

Is LastPass required?

No, its use is not required by the college. LastPass is an additional, optional service being provided by ITS as a convenient way to safely store all of your passwords.

Will ITS be able to see any of my passwords?

NO. ITS will not have any access to your LastPass Vault. We may be able to help you reset your Master Password if needed, but cannot see it or any of the saved passwords you have.

Can I use LastPass on all of my devices?

Yes and no. There is a LastPass extension/plug-in available for all major web browsers. This is the main way LastPass was designed to be used. 

Who can sign up for LastPass?

LastPass is available for employees. Students are not currently able to sign up, but we are working on an option for students.
