Getting an Account

Faculty & Staff

All employees of Swarthmore College are provided an employee ID and username after their employment requirements are completed by Human Resources (staff) or the Provost's Office (faculty). Once the account is created, your hiring manager will contact you with instructions.

If you are an employee and have not received your account username, notify Human Resources for staff (humanresources@swarthmore.edu) or the Provost's Office for faculty (provost@swarthmore.edu).

Account Usage

Your username and password can be used to access most campus digital services, such as:

  • The campus network (Wi-Fi)

  • Google Workspace, including Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets

  • mySwarthmore

  • Banner administrative software

  • Moodle, Swarthmore's learning management system

Students

All students registered for a Swarthmore class are assigned a student ID and username. Accounts are created automatically for new students in the fall and spring. You will be sent instructions for accessing your account upon initial enrollment.

If you do not have a username please contact the Registrar's office (registrar@swarthmore.edu). 

Bryn Mawr College, Haverford College, University of Pennsylvania, and Strath Haven High School students who need to log into Moodle

You must be registered for a Swarthmore course to log into Moodle, and you'll need to use a Swarthmore Account to do so.  After registering for a course, you will receive an email with your username and instructions for setting up your Swarthmore password. If you have not yet registered for a course, but need access to the content, ask your professor about guest access

Setting or Changing Your Password

In order to use your Swarthmore account, you will need to establish your password. You may be required to change your password periodically based on length and complexity. You may choose to change your password more often.

Guest Accounts

SwatGuest Wireless Accounts

College visitors who do not have Swarthmore IDs or belong to an eduroam institution may use the wireless network called SwatGuest. General guest accounts may be attained by following the self-service guest Wi-Fi instructions.

Swarthmore Faculty and Staff can request a sponsored guest account for non-Swarthmore employees that need access to a system that requires a Swarthmore login. To request an account, follow the link to the ITS Service Portal (requires login): service account request form.
