Audio and Video panes

First Steps

  • Log in to Drupal.

  • Hover over My Sites in the upper left.

  • Click on the site to which you'd like to add a Audio or Video.

  • Once at the site, hover over the yellow title of the site in the upper left to reveal an options list.

Creating an Audio Player pane

  • Select Add new pane > Audio Player.

  • Provide a Title for the new Audio Player.

  • Optionally, provide a Label (example: the "Listen" text in the image above).

  • Add an Audio Image to create a visually engaging player (optimal dimensions: width of 300px by height of 300px)

  • Add an Audio File (MP3 format only)

  • Transcripts are required in at least one of the following forms:

    • Add an Audio Transcript Download Link by clicking the blue Link to a document button

      • If the file has already been uploaded, browse to the location, select the it with your cursor, then either double-click the file name or click the Insert File button from the upper left.

      • To upload a new file, click the Upload File button from the upper left, navigate to a file on your desktop, upload, then either double-click the file name or click the Insert File button from the upper left.

      • Set your link title to "Transcript"

    • Add Transcript Text by pasting a copy of your transcript into this field

  • Add an optional Abstract to place a caption below your audio player

Audio transcripts are required. They provide valuable information to users who require or prefer the content in a written format. They can be provided as a linked text file (Audio Transcript Download Link) and/or text embedded within the page (Transcript Text).

Creating a Video-Only pane

This pane is a simple, no-frills video pane. If you're looking for something that also has accompanying title, abstract text, and/or call-to-action links, consider creating a Feature or Feature Link List pane instead.

  • Select Add new pane > Video-Only.

  • Optionally, add the Image (optimal dimensions: width of 1530px by height of 1020px). If both a Video URL and Image are present, the image will be used as the video’s “poster image”. This is the way the system is intended to be used but is not required.

    • If you’re adding a new image to the system, click the Choose File button to browse your local system for the file, select it, and click the Upload button

    • If the image has already been uploaded to the system:

      • Click the File Browser tab to launch the browser pop-up window.

      • Navigate to the file, clicking on the title to select it.

      • Double click the title or use the Insert file button in the upper left.

  • Add a Video URL. Note: The system expects the video to come from YouTube or Vimeo
